Pull The Chain (BE)-Janv 2006

Now this is way more interesting for my opinion than Manylaethurius other musical projects. Ancetres and Spectrums of Oblivion are no bad acts but they don’t already succeed in creating something personal and their releases don’t really stand out in the tons of nowadays back to the roots black metal records. From the artwork of the cover, you can imagine a cruel and yet serene atmospheric black metal. Each track flowing into the other with grace and brightness. Just picture yourself journeying through Carpathian’s hostile landscapes and you’ll get the idea. An effective prominence is given throughout the six very long songs (for a total playing time of a little bit less than fifty-five minutes) to the keyboard works, interspersed with ice-cold guitar passages and discreet and quite useless vocal parts. The demo has a strange and almost unique sound (sometimes reminiscent of older Burzum works). There are tons of slower passages and there is generally good variation right across the demo. concept is very personal and while I’m not into that genre, I still found this quite appealing. If you’re into keyboard axed atmospheric black metal, I recommend you checking this one. If not, I recommend you checking this one anyway as this is different and shows what a musician can do with some imagination. Georges
